A Girls Weekend: Boozy Apple Picking

Black Women Picking Apples at Lynd's Fruit Farm

Last weekend, I went boozy apple picking with my best friends at Lynd’s Fruit Farm in Pataskala, Ohio. Boozy apple picking is not yet a thing, but a designated driver is always required to participate. Sorry, no compromise on this one.

Every year, my friends and I get together to mix boozy Fall cocktails (apple cider with Jack Daniel’s Fireball), play games, catch up on life, and travel to our final destination – a beautiful apple orchard. To be honest, cider beer companies and farmers of apple orchards should really consider making boozy apple picking a “thing.”

And of course, on our drive there we’re playing our favorite throwback R&B, and trap music – because there’s nothing better than getting ratchet with your friends doing basic shit… like apple picking. It’s truly the simple things in life that make life great.

Boozy apple picking became an annual tradition for my girls and me after one year deciding we all wanted to go apple picking, but none of our significant others did. Combined with our love for flavorful cocktails, we made magic.

Tip: Dress cute for the occasion by wearing fall colors, a vest or flannels, high-knee boots or cute booties, a patterned scarf, and/or complimentary accessories. Trust us, your photos will thank us later.

Last, if you’re a grown ass woman with no kids and a significant other who loathes the idea of apple picking, my recommendation to you is to ask your girlfriends instead. As an added bonus, your girlfriends will take better photos of you anyway.

Happy apple picking, my friends!
