Experience The Nationally Famous 80-Mile Donut Trail in Butler County

The Nationally Famous 80-Mile Donut Trail in Butler County

This past summer, I took a trip down to Butler County for a weekend long girl’s trip. It was the perfect getaway for my best friend and I to unwind and relax. We did everything from kayaking down the Great Miami River to reclining our seats in one of the nicest dine-in movie theaters at the CinéBistro at Liberty Center. It was a weekend full of fine dining, beautiful sights, and good company.

Although, we enjoyed every bit of our trip, one of our favorite parts was experiencing the nationally famous 80-mile donut trail. With Fall season among us, I’m almost positive that some specialty pumpkin spiced donuts can be found on this trail. When we experienced it, our first stop was Holtman’s Donuts which smells of warm dough, maple bacon, and cinnamon as soon as you walk through the door. As for choosing which ones we wanted – well there were so many donuts to choose from we didn’t know where to start. So we asked for recommendations and grabbed about a half of dozen, which were almost too pretty to eat.

Next we made our way to The Donut House, but it was closed – so we called around and changed our route, which took us to the Jupiter Coffee and Donuts. I’m pretty sure they gave us every donut known to man, which was amazing because we had a fun photo shoot in their parking lot. We didn’t make it to every donut place, but if anything, it gives us more of a reason to come back. As a word of advice – it’s extremely important to know that if you plan on tasting every donut on the donut trail you have to wake up early and be timely in your execution.

Participants on the Donut Trail include:

In case you didn’t know, Butler County boasts one of the highest numbers of donut shops per capita in the Midwest, with at least one donut shop for every 15,000 residents. Trail participants can experience the Donut Trail by collecting secret codes and filling in an official passport at each required location. Passports can be picked up in a donut shop or downloaded online. Once completed, each passport can be redeemed for a complimentary Donut Trail t-shirt.

Needless to say, the Donut Trail is a must while visiting Butler County. For more information about Butler County visit: www.gettothebc.com.
