I love rock and roll so put another dime in the jukebox baby, I love rock and roll…so come and take your time and dance with me. If you love rock music, Japanese culture, or comical theatrics then Shadowbox Live has the ultimate experience for you. Grab your friends, order some drinks, sit back, relax and be prepared to have your mind twisted. I never know what to expect when I come to Shadowbox Live, but I never leave disappointed – sometimes confused, but never disappointed.
With only seven shows left, it’s time to buy your tickets before the final curtains close. The Tenshu play written by Izumi Kyoka is a unique love story between a powerful spirit and loyal Samurai who is dedicated to retrieving his master’s falcon. One moment two friends are sharing secrets and the next moment you’re watching grandma lick the blood off a dead’s man face, but in a non-creepy way of course.
The show was difficult to follow, but fun to watch. It was crazy, beautiful, and different – which is the perfect night out to share with family and friends. Fall in love with your inner child again and stroll down memory lane. Does anybody remember watching “My Neighbor Totoro” as a kid? I do and that’s what it reminded me of – Japanese anime. It was creepy and cool all at the same time. Art is the most beautiful when it is experienced and I appreciated the casts’ entire performance.
Shadowbox Live did an excellent job partnering with Director/Choreographer Hiromi Sakamoto by bringing an international production to Columbus. This collaboration between American and Japanese cultures created an artistic experience for all audiences to enjoy. Every detail from the structure of the stage to the make-up and costume designs was given great thought and paid tribute to classic Japanese culture.
During the pre-show and intermission the cast members of the play interacted with the audience and took food and drink orders. It was great to see the characters up close and share in the excitement of their performances. I truly admire the manpower and effort that goes into the production of a showcase and I appreciate the opportunity to attend such a great event.
The last show is this Saturday so get your tickets now and don't miss out!
