The culture of modern-day dating has changed drastically in the last 20 years. There was a time when drive-in movies and a night out at the bowling alley was enough to spark a new relationship, but in today’s world, relationships are becoming more and more complex and less about communication, especially with technology playing cupid.
It’s becoming harder for millennials to decipher the idea of dating, let alone the possibility of marriage. Many don’t know where to start, how to communicate or what it takes to develop a meaningful relationship with a future spouse.
That’s where Dr. Alvin Pelt, founder of Relationship, MD can help. With more than 30 years’ experience as a psychiatrist, this relationship doctor is finally debuting his book, Wish I Knew Before Loving You. This book focuses on finding the right partner, helpful communication techniques and how to develop a successful relationship with the one you love. Currently, Dr. Pelt works as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at The Ohio State University and Ohio University.
Through clinical research, he noticed that problems in relationships were the root cause of unhappiness in his patients lives which had significant side effects on their mental health and financial stability. When looking at the impact of broken relationships, particularly in the African American community, he decided to write a book that would help those looking to identify, initiate and maintain healthy relationships in this new world of 21st century dating.
It is my desire to help individuals become happier by changing the way they view and experience their relationships,” said Dr. Pelt. “This book [Wish I Knew Before Loving You] is a relationship manual that is easy to digest, down-to-earth and will enhance a reader’s personal relationships."
The book is set to debut on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at an official signing and release party at the Lincoln Theater Ballroom. The event is located at 769 East Long Street, Columbus, Ohio 43203 and will offer book readings from popular chapters along with appetizers and light refreshments. Dress to Impress!
