Celebrity for a Night was a charity event held at the Westin Columbus Hotel benefiting Tiny Hands International. The goal for the evening was to raise enough money to rescue 100 girls from Human Trafficking in South Asia. A local business called Elytus, a waste management company whose sole purpose is to “waste nothing” decided to partner with Party for a Reason to help bring awareness to this devastating problem and raise funds.
Jesse Lear, Founder of Party for a Reason wanted to combine the experience of an extravagant party with the idea that you could save lives while doing it. “People love experiencing new things,” said Jesse. “By giving guests the opportunity to be treated like a Celebrity for a Night, we were able to raise enough money to save even more girls than expected.”
The night began on the red carpet with the paparazzi going crazy capturing every A-list “celebrity” that walked through the door. And yes, I did consider myself an A-list celebrity for the rest of the evening and I was soon escorted to the ballroom which was absolutely beautiful.
The room was painted in touches of gold, silver and white with hints of blue feathers and white roses for the center pieces. The drinks never stopped flowing, everyone looked glamorous, the bar was fully stocked and the hors d'oeuvres were delicious. The dim lighting provided such an intimate setting to share good conversation with new and old friends and all that was missing was an appearance by the infamous Great Gatsby.
Waste Nothing' is the core value of Elytus. We believe that 'Waste Nothing' extends further than just the environment, it also refers to people, their potential and the whole of human possibility. In addition to donating 1% of our revenue yearly to charities, sponsoring 'Party For a Reason' and other events like it allow us to evidence our dedication to this core value. All proceeds from 'Party for a Reason' are being given to Tiny Hands and their efforts to stop wasting Nepali girls' lives by border trafficking." - Matt Hollis, Co-Founder of Elytus
Elytus and Party for a Reason held a spectacular event and exceeded their goal thanks to local party-goers and their giving pockets. For every $100 donated Tiny Hands is able to prevent another child from being sold and traded into sex trafficking and slavery. The funds are used for transit monitoring programs which have helped save thousands of women and children. Human Trafficking is a major issue that needs to be addressed locally and internationally and I would like to thank Party for a Reason + Elytus for inviting me to such a wonderful event.
