Happy Monday, Columbus!
First and foremost, I would like to give my Dad a special birthday shout out because today is his 44th birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!
I hope you enjoy this special day and I wish you all the blessings in the world. This past weekend, my Dad and I were able to go zip lining at Zip Zone Canopy Tours located off route 23 in Worthington, OH. We had so much fun and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Last year, my Dad and I went zip lining in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and it was one of the craziest and most memorable experiences I have ever had. This time, I was extended the opportunity to venture out to Zip Zone Canopy Tours which is literally 1 mile from my house. How amazing is that?
Zip Zone Canopy Tours provides a safe and fun atmosphere aimed specifically towards families and group settings. We did five zip lines which included zip lining from distances as short as 280 feet up to 500 feet. It was incredible and our tour guides were awesome! Jane and Spencer were extremely knowledgeable of the area, the trees, and the history of the former campground. They offered new challenges at every zip line and my Dad completed each one. "I'm an old man out here and this year I'm trying new things." My Dad did it all, from walking across rope bridges with no hands to free falling backwards off a ledge. There was nothing that scared him and he even challenged me to try some of it.
During the zip lining experience, your group of eight is considered a family. Everyone challenges each other and takes care of one another along the way. The tour lasts about two hours and you have the option of bringing your phone or putting it in storage for safe keeping.
Any other day, I would have taken my phone with me. I'm an artist and "in my head" I capture shots that some people may overlook. That day, I decided not to take my phone with me on the tour because I had just lost my debit card and driver’s license the night before (don’t ask), but I decided to keep my phone tucked away because with my luck I’d lose all three important items in one weekend. Zip Zone tour guides take pictures along the way and you can purchase those pictures at the end of your tour.
Zip Zone Canopy Tours was featured in my 50 First Dates in Columbus post and now that I've experienced it, I would definitely recommend it for the adventurous type. It costs $69.00/per person on the weekends (Friday-Sunday) and $64.00/per person during the week. If you decide to make it a group date or a fun getaway for friends, a group of 8 will drop the price down by $6.00/per person!
Even though I was scared at different platforms I continued to challenge myself. Don't let the fear of heights get in the way. It's hard to choose my favorite zip, but I felt so alive when I was zipping over this beautiful stream that cuts into the forest. Honestly, I wish I could do it all over again and most likely I will be very soon.
So Columbus, what do you think? Are you up for the challenge? This hidden gem tucked away behind the construction of route 23 is not one to be missed. Book your tour today!
Thank you Lori Pingle for inviting me to participate in this amazing experience! Also, thank you Jane and Spencer for taking care of my Dad and I on his special day. Trust me, this won't be my last zip this year because I plan to be back in the Fall. I can only end this post in one way and in honor of my tour guide Spencer he would say...
ZIP ON, Columbus!
