I only need three ingredients for a good night out 1) Good Drinks 2) Good Food and 3) Good Friends. Yes, I need them in that order and my friends understand that before any conversation starts, a drink needs to be in hand. After a long work week, you need a night out to decompress from work, your significant other and life’s craziness. Now that I’m an adult (I mean paying bills) and working in the real world, time with family and friends is important to me. Sometimes you want to “go out” without “going out”. You know what I mean? If not, let me explain. I love getting together with my girlfriends, but blending this combination with good food and drinks can make a night out even better.
Forno Kitchen + Bar is the perfect place for young professionals to relax and unwind. The modern and cool atmosphere brings a big city vibe to the heart of Columbus in the Short North. If you’re on the path to becoming the next CEO, Vice President, or company Director, Forno is the place for you. If throwing back shots is no longer your forte (except for game days), perhaps poppin’ champagne bottles is more your scene. Well, guess what? Forno Bar + Kitchen is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights. In the month of September, Forno Kitchen + Bar started a new late night special called, InForno Late Night.
What is InForno Late Night? It’s a late night happy hour on Friday & Saturday that runs from 10:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. offering half-off priced bottles of wine and champagne. Did I mention that when you book a table it comes with complimentary spiked strawberries? Yum! Regular happy hour is from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., but it’s almost impossible for me to make happy hours so it was great to try this out. The service at Forno is always amazing; add a spiked punch bowl ($45.00) to the mix and it just keeps getting better. Charlie was our host for the evening and he gave us a great recommendation to order the shrimp artisan pizza ($16.00).
The best recommendation ever! It was cheesy, slightly charred, with red onions, creamy Alfredo sauce and topped off with seasoned shrimp. It was perfection in my mouth and I enjoyed every bite of it. Our table was happy the entire night and we had plenty of libations to keep our cups filled. Oh, and even though I didn’t order them, I love the arancini balls ($10.00) which is fried risotto in marinara sauce, so delicious! Actually everything on their menu is great.
How does InForno Late Night add up? When you crunch the numbers it ends up being a great deal. For instance a punch bowl was $45.00/4 friends = $11.25 + $16.00 artisan pizza/4 friends = $4.00. You just spent $15.25 on a night out for drinks and great pizza. If you’re celebrating a big promotion, perhaps you want a bottle of Dom Perignon which goes for $250.00 a bottle, but subtract 50% and its $125.00/4 friends and it’s $31.25. I just did a lot of math, but you get my drift. You can spend a lot less with friends and get quality drinks and food.
