Nothing makes me happier than seeing two people in love, especially when the two people in love are my close friends. As a lifestyle blogger, I get to support really cool things happening in Columbus, but every now and then, someone recognizes my crazy, awesome photography skills and I get to play with my DSLR for the day, and act like I know what I'm doing (wow, she's modest).
I would have to say my photography gravitates towards special moments, fuzzy feelings, happy faces, realness and authenticity. On a late Saturday afternoon, I met Tierra and Kenton at Pistacia Vera in German Village. All the locals must be used to photographers, because every car that drove past me either welcomed me with a friendly smile or waited on me while I was standing in the middle of the street to get my shot. Thank you, German Village for being so warm and inviting. Your cobblestone bricks and rich historic buildings, provided the perfect atmosphere for this charming couple.
As I was editing photos, I came across this gem ("shot") and I immediately started crying. As I'm writing this blog post, I almost want to cry all over again because this photo says it all. If you don't see it right away, you don't get it. They're in love, look at them. Do you notice the way she's grabbing his face and slightly smiling on his lips? Do you see the gentle way he looks at her? Ugh, it's so goddamn cute.
These two southern love birds are about to say, "I do" in Raleigh, North Carolina and I can't wait to celebrate their big day. Photos like these are supposed to be a beautiful reminder of the past, but all I could think about was the exciting future that they have to look forward too. From their first home to bouncing babies, I started to think about their grandchildren and how decades from now, they'll look back on these photos and they'll say, "Grandma and Grandpa were/are so in love." And guess what? I get to be a part of it. Damn, I'm lucky.
When I said, "yes" to taking these photos I didn't realize the effect it would have on me. I knew I wanted to take beautiful photos of Tierra and Kenton, but I wanted to take photos that their kids could look at years from now and say, "I want a love like Mom and Dad". When you're in the process of wedding planning, sometimes you need moments like these to slow down and be with one another, and these photos represent that exact moment they had.
Thank you, Tierra and Kenton for entrusting me with this magical moment of yours, you didn't have to ask me, but you did. You two are going to have a long, happy and fruitful marriage filled with many laughs, healthy babies, and a beautiful legacy to leave behind. I love you both and thank you for giving me all the feels as you placed your love in front of my camera.
