What's Up, ColumBUZZ!
It's finally Friday!
Let's say it one more time,
It's FINALLY FRIDAY!
Yep, I felt it when you said it that time.
Today, I would like to highlight a new event that's breaking into the Columbus scene called, Here To Disrupt. An idea created by three entrepreneurs creating a culinary experience to share dope food, meet cool people, and connect fresh ideas.
Here To Disrupt? Disrupt what? More like.. disrupt the conversation, but by no means was it a bad thing when it involved a four-course meal prepared by an inspiring chef named, Mo Marvel.
This new event highlights featured chefs in the Columbus area who will create and design their own menus based on their love and passion for cooking. Whose ready to eat? I know I am. Last night's event took place at The Explorer's Club located at 1586 S High St, Columbus, OH 43207 and it was hosted by Mattey Spicer and Travis Sims.
The evening featured a four course meal designed by Chef Mo Marvel who came out to the dining area and spoke about each dish featured on his California Summer inspired menu. His prior culinary experience includes working at Son of a Gun in Los Angeles, CA and Spagio in Columbus, OH. Now you can catch him at Mezzo Ristorante & Bistro in Dublin or at the next #HereToDisrupt event.
He graduated from Le Cordon Bleu (Pasadena) and brought together local ingredients to create this delicious menu which can be seen below. Yes, now you can start drooling!
Ohio Heirloom Tomato Salad
Watermelon, Whipped Goat Cheese, Mint, & a Lemon Vinaigrette.
What's up, Columbus!
Whose up for a little adventure? If you said yes, I found an awesome place for you - Hayden Run Falls! It's the perfect place to clear your thoughts and just relax in the beauty of the scenery. This hidden gem is truly a site to see in Columbus. It's located right off Hayden Run Road and if you're coming from Bethel Rd., look to your left and you'll see the sign below, this is where you'll park. Don't let the small parking lot fool you because there's beauty to be seen. Take a short walk down the steps and through a narrow path and you'll find one of Columbus' hidden waterfalls not too far.
Happy Monday, Columbus!
First and foremost, I would like to give my Dad a special birthday shout out because today is his 44th birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!
I hope you enjoy this special day and I wish you all the blessings in the world. This past weekend, my Dad and I were able to go zip lining at Zip Zone Canopy Tours located off route 23 in Worthington, OH. We had so much fun and the weather was absolutely gorgeous. Last year, my Dad and I went zip lining in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica and it was one of the craziest and most memorable experiences I have ever had. This time, I was extended the opportunity to venture out to Zip Zone Canopy Tours which is literally 1 mile from my house. How amazing is that?
Zip Zone Canopy Tours provides a safe and fun atmosphere aimed specifically towards families and group settings. We did five zip lines which included zip lining from distances as short as 280 feet up to 500 feet. It was incredible and our tour guides were awesome! Jane and Spencer were extremely knowledgeable of the area, the trees, and the history of the former campground. They offered new challenges at every zip line and my Dad completed each one. "I'm an old man out here and this year I'm trying new things." My Dad did it all, from walking across rope bridges with no hands to free falling backwards off a ledge. There was nothing that scared him and he even challenged me to try some of it.
